You might be getting pop-up messages of “Activation count exceeded” every time trying to activate your SOLIDWORKS. This situation means that your SOLIDWORKS license is activated in another computer.
To transfer the license, you will need to deactivate the SOLIDWORKS license in the currently activated computer. You may follow the deactivation guide here: Automatic Deactivation of SOLIDWORKS Network License or Automatic Deactivation of SOLIDWORKS Standalone License.
Sometimes, if you are not able to do the steps mentioned above, you will need to go through the license disablement.
What is License Disablement?
There are situations where you are not able to deactivate the license, such as:
- The activated computer is spoilt.
- Reformatted computer
- Changes made to your computer internal hardware
- Change of network card/ MAC address
- Windows Operating system upgrade
Each computer has its own unique ID. License disablement is the process of deactivating the computer ID, preventing it from further activating the SOLIDWORKS license.
*Not to be confused with computer name and MAC address!
SOLIDWORKS activation will tie the license to your computer ID, and deactivation can only be done to the same computer ID. If your computer ID has changed, SOLIDWORKS will not be able to activate/deactivate the license, hence license disablement.
To do license disablement, kindly follow the steps below:
Step 1: Download the disable license form here.
Step 2: Fill in the form according to the listed requirements.
a. SOLIDWORKS license key
b. Computer ID.
c. Disable Reasons (only valid reasons is acceptable)
d. Your signature and company stamp
Step 4: The license disablement request will be processed within 1-2 working days.
IMPORTANT NOTE!
In case if you are not able to find the activated computer, once the disablement is complete, the previously activated computer ID can no longer use SOLIDWORKS with the same license key.
